Humbert was in control in the early stages, getting a break at his third attempt in the third game to take the lead. However, Medjedovic, who pulled off a shock win over Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals, dug in with a three-game winning run of his own to take a 6-5 lead.
He also reached set-point, but Humbert successfully defended it to force the tie-break. Once more, he raced into a big lead, going 5-1 up, though had to hold off the Serb's fightback to take the set.
Medjedovic continued to make life tricky for Humbert, though he had to fight off three break-point attempts to level the score at 3-3.
The 21-year-old trailed off in the closing stages of the match, with Humbert breaking to love to become the first Frenchman to win back-to-back titles in Marseille.
