Kelly rejoined her former club on a six-month loan deal on deadline day following days of speculation over her Manchester City future amid a deterioration in her relationship with the Citizens.

The 27-year-old, who is out of contract with City at the end of the season, also took to social media days before the last-minute move to explain her frustration over this season.

Kelly was ineligible to play against her parent club in Arsenal's last Women's Super League match, and again in the League Cup, while she was cup-tied for their FA Cup win over London City Lionesses last weekend.

In the North London derby against Tottenham on Sunday, she could make her first appearance in the WSL for Arsenal since June 2017, when she scored against Bristol City.

Should she play this weekend, 2,815 days since that game, it would be the second-longest gap between two appearances for the same club by an outfield player in the competition, after Toni Duggan for Everton (2,897 days).

Renee Slegers says she is "hopeful" of Kelly's availability for Sunday, and Kelly is raring to get back in front of the Arsenal fans.

"It was a difficult time for me and my family, and now I can look at the other side of it and move forward," Kelly told Sky Sports.

"Things weren't great, and it wasn't for a while, so I think it's important that you address those things.

"But I'm here now at Arsenal, and it's a great time for me to get a smile on my face and enjoy my football again. I'm looking forward to the future.

"Enjoying your football is always important, but looking at it from a human aspect is really important. I know we're footballers and I know how the game works, merryph but you want to be happy, so it's important that I come here and do that.

"I'm here to work for six months, do my job and get a smile back on my face. I've really enjoyed working with Renee [Slegers] and the team, so let's see what the future holds."

A lack of playing time has seen Kelly drop out of Sarina Wiegman's latest England squad.

The forward was given just 165 minutes of playing time in six appearances by Gareth Taylor in the WSL before her move, only starting one match in the competition.

Kelly, who scored the goal which sealed England's Euro 2022 triumph on home soil, says she is ready to work hard in order to get back into the squad, with the next European Championship just around the corner.

"I had a really good conversation with Sarina about that. It's clear that I need to get football under my belt, and it's really important to do that," Kelly added.

"Sarina is a top manager and I put so much trust into her. She's been so successful, so I think what's best for the team is me not going to this camp and getting that football in my legs.

"I want to be at the best for England and Arsenal, so it's really important that I listen to the people around me and move forward.

"In 2022 [after an ACL injury], I was still not even training with the team at this time. For me, it's about getting minutes under my belt and when I do get onto the pitch, show what I'm capable of again."

Hannan Shahid was named the hero of the match for his spectacular double. Pakistan's five goals, which decisively thrashed China in Hulunbuir, have secured their place in the semi-finals of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024, where they join India. This sets up the potential for an India vs. Pakistan final, though the two teams will first face off in their fifth match on Saturday.

One did not realise the enormity of this feat. Harmanpreet is basically a defensive midfielder in footballing parlance and to score 200 goalskabibe game, is truly a great achievement.
